How do fUSI
and ULM work?
The updated interactive laboratory is currently available in Portuguese. The supplied version replaces the previous simulator.
Explore how ultrasound can study cerebral hemodynamics and how microbubbles can reveal vascular detail.

- Acquisition: from pulses and echoes to image frames.
- Filtering: separating tissue and blood components using SVD.
- Functional response: comparing stimuli, controls and vascular changes.
- ULM: microbubble detection, localization, tracking and accumulation.
- Interpretation: what each map represents and what can be concluded.
Before you start
Images, signals and trajectories are simulated. The controls illustrate relationships between parameters; they do not reproduce experimental validation or equipment performance.
fUSI measures a hemodynamic signal, whose relationship to neural activity depends on the experimental context. ULM is included for education; its inclusion does not represent a service offered by CTMM.
References and limitations
The laboratory includes scientific references and describes each model’s simplifications in the Interpretation section.
